All the way to the Banks! A Double at Geelong Synthetic!

On a cold and dirty day at Geelong, the mood was lifted for the Cloud 9 team with stable stalwarts Rouen & Lomi saluting in the Daily Double legs.

Rouen kicked off the day for the team and after a slashing 2nd place last start, the rising 9 year old showed that the had plenty of run in his legs, overpowering his more fancied rival in the final 50m.

Settling towards the rear by rider Jarrod Todd, Rouen pinched runs through the field before getting to the outside and producing his trademark dash and score in what would be a double for both Trainer Paul Banks & rider Jarrod Todd on the day.

This was Rouen's 9th win and his 6th win on the Geelong Synthetic track, showing his love for the surface. No doubt he'll be back there in a few weeks to stake his claim for the 'King of the Synthetic'.
"He's a good old horse that just loves to run" said Banks. "He's pretty simple, you keep him happy and he'll keep you happy!". The method seems to be working so far as he nears his 9th year with no signs of stopping.

Fast forward to the last race on the card and Lomi, who has struggled to gain a start in the Benchmark 58 races of late, again stepped out in the stronger class of a Benchmark 64 at double figure odds.

Again piloted by Todd, Lomi sat right on the leaders heels during the race before Todd tried to get to the outside once in the final straight. The run closed and Todd quickly switched back to the rail and drove Lomi through. In what showed great fight, Lomi took the entire straight to get past his higher rated rivals but hit the lead when it counted to salute at the juicy odds of $16.10, which prompted one punter on course to scream out "All the way to the Banks!".

A great win from Lomi in the tougher grade and an even better win for the lucky punter who placed a $10 all up on the pair at the $115 price!

Congratulations to all involved on the day!
