Beach Front claims the Jeep for Cloud 9

He may not have had a runner in the race, but trainer Brent Stanley was sure happy to see Platelet stop the clock at 55.60 in the $100,000 Jeep 55 Second Challenge Heat 16 (955m) at Moonee Valley

The Kyneton-based horseman had to endure a long wait to secure the keys to his brand new Jeep, afforded to the trainer of the fastest winner of 16 Jeep 955m Challenge heats.

Stanley’s zippy five-year-old mare Beach Front recorded a series winning time of 55.06 seconds in December last year.

“It’s been a hell of a long wait, I’ll tell you that,” he said.

“It was a great race tonight. Being a handicap race with great horses, I thought this might have been the night it (Beach Front’s time) would be beaten with these quality horses in it.

“My mare’s done a great job, she’s ultra-consistent around this track and to hold the record and win a brand new Jeep is fantastic.”
