Double Delight as Cloud 9 land a Double at Benalla

It was a case of Déjà vu for Punters on Monday the 11th of May at Benalla when both Debutante Park’s Headmaster and Jetello saluted the judge in Races 1 and 5 for owners Rob Brudenell & Doug Muir.

Headmaster kicked it off in the first race of the day with a dominant win in the Shepparton Market Maiden Plate over 1206m. Settling midfield on the rail, jockey Michael Walker let Headmaster find his feet in the race before looking for inside runs approaching the turn.

Suffering a check near the 500m mark, Headmaster regained his balance and when asked by Walker to set out after the pack, he picked up quicker than anticipated and had nowhere to go as he was suddenly on the back of the pack within a hundred meters. With the patience and quality that Walker possesses, he eased Headmaster off heels with perfect timing and put pay to his rivals over the final 100m to record his first win at just his 2nd start for the Cloud 9 team.

Punter’s who weren’t paying attention would have thought they were watching a replay when they looked up and saw the Pink, Blue Stars and White Sleeves of Debutante Park cross the line in front for the second time on the day with Jetello recording a powerful win in the Lindsay Park Racing 0-58 Handicap over the same distance of 1206m.

Sent out a $1.90 favourite by Punters, again Walker let the son of Niello balance up on the outside of the leader and stalked him the entire race. Entering the straight Jetello was given his head and he raced away to record what was a ‘sit and steer’ job for Walker to bring up the double and Jetello’s first win for Cloud 9 Thoroughbreds.

Congratulations to both Rob Brudenell & Doug Muir on their double and their first of hopefully many winners with the Cloud 9 Thoroughbreds team.

Below Headmaster (Left) & Jetello (Right) return to scale with Michael Walker.
