Exciting victory for Nadeem mare

After finishing second over 1200m at Donald in the Mackay Jewellers Handicap at the end of July, the now five-year-old Nadeem mare Lideem headed to Murtoa on August 10 to contest Murtoa’s Big Weekend Handicap over 1100m.

Starting the equal favourite after drifting slightly in the betting, jockey Nathan Stanley settled Lideem (pictured left) back in the field.

As the field headed for home, Lideem found herself at the rear of the field with a wall of horses in front of her, but Stanley did not panic, weaving his way through the field to snatch a narrow short head victory from Believe’n’receive, with a further length-and-three-quarters to the third placed Marmaduke Jinx.

With two wins and a placed effort from the handful of starts with the Brent Stanley stable to date, connections; D H K Investments Pty Ltd Syndicate (Mgr: D Kobritz), M I Hansky, Dr J Hansky & C Chrisanthou, are sure to appreciate the form turn around since the mare has been transferred into the stable.

From the first crop of Redoute’s Choice’s Group One Blue Diamond winner Nadeem, out of a half-sister to Group One Golden Slipper winner Prowl and the Group Two Wellington Guineas winner I Rock My World, Lideem’s pedigree is strong, and if she can continue on her winning ways, her residual broodmare value will be very good.
