I Am Grouse proves to be exactly that

I Am Grouse led his rivals a merry dance at his first ever race start at Swan Hill on the 21st of September.

Pinging from the gates and going straight to the front in the 975m event, jockey Dean Yendall never looked back scoring a convincing win by 2.75 lengths.

Showing racetrack professionalism, I Am Grouse did everything right in his first start, jumping well, early speed, railed like a greyhound and kicked on strong showing that he has a bright future and will be competitive in any race that he steps out in over the coming weeks.

Jockey Dean Yendall was impressed - "Bounced good, mustered good speed and sustained it throughout, really good effort for a first starter at Swan Hill with the long straight."

Brent too was happy and was happy to admit where the name came from - "It was after me, they named the horse after me."

One thing is for sure, there were plenty of Whisky drank that night in celebration and who knows, one day he may be The Famous Grouse.
