Kalabek makes it 2 winners in 2 days for Cloud 9!

Classy filly Kalabek wins her 2nd Metropolitan race with victory at Sandown in the Cove Hotel Handicap over 1000m.

Scratched from the Listed MSS Security Stakes on Saturday in favour for the slightly easier assignment, Kalabek made hard work of the win after knuckling at the start and touching the ground with her nose just out of the gates.

From there, apprentice jockey Regan Bayliss mustered speed on the daughter of Wanted to sit right behind the leader until entering the straight, where he eased of heels for clear running.

Still having a lap full of horse at the 400m mark, Bayliss looked around to see where the competition was going to come from before letting her loose where she dashed clear to try and establish a break.

Wandering around in the last 100m, Kalabek held on from the fast finishers to win by three quarters of a length for Bayliss to keep his good riding form going.

Congratulations to all involved in this speedy Filly and we look forward to seeing what she can do at her next start as wherever she goes, we know she will be in it for a long way.

Go Kalabek!
