Life's a Beach!

Classy Mare Beach Front scored again at Moonee Valley last Friday night is what was the perfect present for first time rider at Moonee Valley, Sigrid Carr (pictured).

Sigrid, over from Tasmania was competing in the National Apprentices Series, with this race being the only Victorian Leg. Drawn perfectly Beach Front pinged from the gates and Sigrid took full advantage and slotted her in one length from the leader on the outside.

Approaching the 700m mark, Sigrid let Beach Front stroll forward to the leader so not to get boxed in from circling horses and eye-balled the leader until just before the turn.

It was there Sigrid set Beach Front alight and she dashed clear opening up a 2 length margin on the field and comfortably holding it to the line.

“It was my first ride here and to win was unreal,” Carr said.

“A couple of the girls in the jockeys’ room helped me out with a few tips so that was good.

“I’ve ridden 78 winners down in Tassie and I’ve transferred to John Hyam in South Australia now so I’m looking forward to giving it a go there.”

Trainer Brent Stanley said “She rode her well, I initially thought she might’ve gone a bit too far forward but she had to get across from the barrier,”.

“She still claims three kilos which was a massive advantage because the rules are a little bit different in Tasmania. She’s a well-established rider and did a great job.”

Great Job Sigrid and great job to our little Beach!
