Overdrive for Overreach

Having enjoyed a decent 19 weeks spell, four-year-old Commands gelding Override has appeared to have returned bigger and better than when he went out for a break.

Starting first-up over 1000m on Geelong Synthetic track a few weeks back, trainer Brent Stanley took his talented gelding to Swan Hill on Sunday for the Mildura Carnival 30/8 & 1/9-64 Handicap over 975m.

Jumping the gates extremely well and going straight to the lead, jockey Nathan Stanley coasted in from of the field until the home turn when he asked Override for an effort, and the gelding responded with ease.

Bounding away to record a facile four-and-a-quarter length over Murray Star, it was Override’s third win from ten starts, having previosuly recorded a further four placed efforts.

Raced by Mrs J S Moodie, M E Cleve, D J Moodie, J F Archer & J R Sutherland, Override was bred by David and Jenny Moodie and is by the Darley stallion Commands out of the Blazing Sword mare River Express, making Override a half-brother to the dual Listed winner Cross Current and from the family of stakes winners River Dove, Oneworld, First Commands, Kulgrinda and Willow Creek.
