Sweet Sherry wins the Group 2 & delivers Cloud 9’s biggest win to date!

Stable pin up girl Sweet Sherry has again delivered on her talent and secured her biggest win of her short career to date, the Euclase Stakes Group 2 at Morphettville on May 6th.

Bouncing from Barrier 3, Sherry was slightly slowly away but mustered good speed to be sitting 2 back the fence in running. Missing the start slightly turned out to be a blessing in disguise as this placed her right on the back of the race favourite, giving her a lovely cart into the race.

Ridden by the ever patient Noel Callow, Sweet Sherry was waiting to pounce approaching the bend, with Callow smoking the pipe waiting that bit longer at a time before hitting the detonator.

Trucking up behind the leading quartet as they straightened, Sherry eased of heels and quickly set out after the leaders without Callow letting her go.
When she got to the front, Callow released the shackles and away went Sherry dashing to the lead. Under hard riding from Callow to the line, Sherry kept going on to win from the fast closing Fuhryk to win by ‘enough’ on the line.

The win was Trainer Brent Stanley’s biggest win to date and has come at a fantastic time for the team as the stable continues to build momentum since his return.

Congratulations to all involved, including Owners Steve & Louise Gillard who have stuck by the stable through thick and thin. A further congratulations to all the staff, friends and family that is Cloud 9! Without you all a result like this would be impossible.

Sweet Sherry will next take on the Goodwood Handicap this Saturday, where again she has drawn Barrier 3 and will look to repeat the performance with only 53.5kg on her back!

Go Sherry Go!
