Tides Of Fortune ends the unlucky streak in more ways than one

4yo Hard Spun gelding Tides Of Fortune was back in the winners stall after saluting the judge on Monday the 31st of August at Wodonga.

In what has been a frustrating time for both Tides and the Stable with recent placings and being unable to claim the win for a few weeks, that was all turned around yesterday when aided by a great ride by regular stable rider Michael Walker.

After bouncing from the gates well in the Heavy conditions, Tides Of Fortune was allowed to take a sit just behind the leading trio of horses. Being urged to keep his spot right on the hammer of those in front of him, Tides picked up in the conditions to be travelling sweetly approaching the bend.

Approaching the final straight, the leader and eventual 2nd place getter slipped away and looked to be cruising as they rounded the bend, however to Tides' credit, he knuckled down in the straight to rein in the leader and score by half a length. The win had more merit after jockey Michael Walker dropped his whip at around the 600m mark and was forced to resort to slapping him on the shoulder with his own hand to get him over the line.

"A great result to end a frustrating run for the team. He's been a bit unlucky this bloke, we even took him all the way to Dunkeld and he ran into Tycoon Tara who then went on to win a stakes race!" Brent said. "Hopefully this is the win he needed for a bit of confidence moving forward".

It was a great result for the stable after enduring six 2nd placings since out last winner, with some by the barest of margins.

Congratulations to all connections and hopefully this is the confidence booster that can see Tides improve again upon at his next start.
